Job Descriptions

Summer Counselor

Summer Counselors will work in weekly rotations. One week you will be responsible for the direct care of up to six campers while being assisted by a counselor in training (CIT). The next week you will be part of the “Support Staff” working as a lifeguard, General Duty member, and/or program member. This includes but not exclusively the tasks of:

• Managing the health and safety of your campers
• Mentoring your campers throughout the week
• Engaging with campers during electives and activities
• Completing tasks assigned by Leadership Staff
• Organizing and facilitating different electives such as photography and archery
• Completing weekly camper evaluations

Dean of Campers (Male/Female)

You will be working directly under the Director in anything related to camper/counselor relations. This includes but not exclusively the tasks of:

• Camper registration and housing
• Weekly counselor evaluations
• Emotional and spiritual support of counselors
• Management and Discipline of campers
• Help with logistics of programming
• Facilitation of camp schedule/activities
• Up front role in communication with campers/counselors

Water Front Director

You are required to have a current lifeguard certification. You will be responsible for the overall safety, program structure and staff schedule of our aquatics program. This includes one junior Olympic swimming pool, activities/swimming pond and a canoeing pond. Other tasks you will be responsible for but not exclusively are:

• Creating pool safety protocol
• Scheduling lifeguard rotations and assignments
• Facilitating weekly camper swim tests and water front rules
• Weekly lifeguard evaluations
• Maintain all water front areas and equipment
• Creating water front activities

High Ropes Director

You are required to be a skilled climber and instructor. You will be responsible for the overall safety, program structure and staff schedule of our high ropes program. This includes the Wet Zip at the activities pond, 50ft and 20 ft. climbing wall, and the Big Zip. Other tasks you will be responsible for but not exclusively are:

• Overseeing and maintaining safety protocol
• Scheduling rotations and assignments
• Complete weekly evaluations of climbing staff
• Maintain all ropes areas and equipment

Program Director

You will be working with a different group of summer staff each week. The tasks you will be responsible for but not exclusively:

• Creating an overall theme each week for campers (a run-on skit)
-Splitting cabins into teams and creating a point system for games
• Creating and facilitating large camp wide games throughout the week
• Setting up and facilitating elective (something like archery or arts and crafts)
• Planning and facilitating short skits and indoor games for Power Hour
• Garbage take out
• Cleaning of common areas
• Working with General Duty Director for any kitchen assistance
• Manage a summer budget

General Duty Director

Under this position you will be overseeing mission teams from partner churches, communities and businesses coming to serve. This director will have to organize and delegate tasks and projects for the parties mentioned above. Tasks will include but not exclusively:
• Filling water coolers
• Setting up and cleaning up meals and snacks
• Working with Program Director if extra kitchen assistance is needed
• Minor landscaping
• Garbage take out
• Cleaning of common areas
• Scheduling time for interaction with campers

Along with providing for their physical needs i.e. materials to accomplish tasks, there should also be an emphasis on fulfilling the spiritual needs. This can be done through a week long biblical study, worshiping together or whatever the director has in mind.
