Mentoring

Vision Atlanta Mentoring, VAM, works with both the ministries that bring the children to camp and the schools the children attend. We believe in one-on-one community mentoring. This means all of our mentoring friendships are with same gender mentors and students, and they meet outside the school environment. Our partnership with the schools provides us with academic and attendance records to ensure the student is achieving his/her potential.

According to a study done in 2000 by Public/Private Ventures (P/PV) and distributed by the U.S. Department of Education, mentored students are less likely to begin using drugs and alcohol, to skip school, or hit someone; and more likely to graduate high school. The study also showed their relationship with family members grew stronger as did confidence in themselves.

We look forward to joining us in our commitment to building friendships to help God’s children dream, achieve, and become leaders for future generations.
